Central to the religious life of the school is the person of Jesus Christ who came among us ‘as one who serves’ (Luke 22.27). Our Catholic school is committed to reaching out to help those in need, through charitable outreach initiatives. All outreach activities connect to the person of Jesus Christ and to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. Drawing on the Catholic Social Teaching of the Church, we have a deep commitment to supporting a range of charitable organisations, families and individuals in need.
Staff and students contribute generously to social justice appeals including Caritas, St Vincent de Paul Society appeals and the Charitable Works Fund. The Religious Education Co-coordinator works with the SAVE group to conduct fund-raising throughout the year for our sister school in the Fiji Islands and the Fijian-based Father Joe Foundation. Students and the school community are proactive in partnering with St Vincent de Paul to prepare food and donate personal care items for Night Patrol distribution to the homeless. The Student Representative Council (SRC) leaders are also active in fund-raising ventures. Student engagement in these initiatives highlights awareness and respect for the needs of others as well as fostering outreach at a local and global level.
